I encountered the work of Eric Pape while employed at a Massachusetts fine art auction house. The auction house had been called upon dispose of the contents of an old North Shore Estate. On the property there was a studio that had been padlocked years before by the widow of the artist…..decades passed, and the locked outbuilding remained closed. When it was finally opened in the late 1980’s there were found many hundreds of canvases, drawings and sketches within, as well as wonderful artefacts acquired by the artist during his travels abroad.
